Princess Ida

Often misunderstood as as satire of women’s education, Princess Ida tells the story of a battle between the sexes in a pair of kingdoms far, far away. Princess Ida and Prince Hilarion were married as babies; however, instead of turning up on her 21st birthday to be the prince’s dutiful wife, Ida has forsworn the world of men and founded a women’s college at Castle Adamant. Hilarion and his friends sneak into the castle, sure that their manly charms can sway any woman, but they soon find more than they bargained for, and Ida would rather take her students to war than return to the patriarchy. Can love and equality win the day?
